But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too. ~ Mark 11:25 (NLT)

When I think of the word FORGIVENESS…I think of difficulty. I don’t know about you but sometimes that is a very difficult thing for me to do. Forgiveness is powerful whether I do it or not. If I don’t forgive, un-forgiveness, bitterness and resentment take control of me and that is powerful. If I do forgive, then freedom takes control and that is powerful. I have to choose which power I want to have control over me. Forgiveness is more for me than it is for the person that I need to forgive. Forgiveness frees me to love, live and fulfill my purpose. Holding on to things that are not in my control is destructive. Holding on to un-forgiveness keeps me bound to the very thing that I need to be set free from. Ultimately, I realize that I must forgive if I want to be forgiven. I know that I want to be pleasing to God so today I choose to let go and forgive. I choose to be free from that bondage so that I can be forgiven and set free to be what God created me to be!

Prayer: Father, thank you for forgiveness! I thank you for the freedom that forgiveness brings and I pray that you will continue to give me the strength to forgive others as I want to be forgiven. Help me to not hold grudges or hold on to resentment. I place it all in your hands and I turn my concerns over to you. Bless those that have wronged me and have mercy on them Lord. Create in all of us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us! I bless your name and give you all the praise. In Jesus name I pray, Amen!
