Power Source

By Pastor Chandra Hill, Pastor of Congregational Life & Women’s Ministries at TLC Fellowship

29 He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.30 Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion.31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. ~  Isaiah 40:29-31 (NLT)

One day, I mistakenly plugged my Bluetooth charger into my Blackberry phone. Seconds later, a message appeared on my phone that said, “The charging source connected to your Blackberry device cannot charge your battery.” I had connected my phone to the wrong power source. The plug fit but there was no connectivity or power flowing to give the battery the charge that it needed. As I reflected on this, I realized that there are times in my life that I am connected to something that cannot give me any power. The “plug” may fit but there is no connection. I have experienced this in relationships, employment, ministry, and the list goes on. I have learned that just because something seems to “fit” doesn’t mean that it is connected to the proper power source. The Lord is the proper power source! He is the One that gives me strength when I am weak. If I plug into Him and wait on Him, I will have enough power to run and not get weary and I can walk and not faint!

Prayer: Father, I thank you for being my power source. Thank you Lord for showing me that even though the plug may fit, it is not effective unless it is connected to you. Thank you for the power that you give me when I am weak and for the love that you show to me each and every day. In Jesus name I pray, Amen!
